Electroformed Metal Bellows

Metal Bellows AssembliesElectroformed metal bellows manufactured by Servometer are utilized for metallic hermetic seals, volume compensators, pressure and temperature sensors, flexible connectors, and countless other applications where quality, dependability, and long life are critical requirements. Metal bellows manufactured by electrodeposition create flexibility, protection, motion, and balance for systems requiring precise, repeatable results. Servometer is the foremost manufacturer of electrodeposited bellows. Electrodeposited (or electroformed) bellows are available in various materials, including nickel, gold, silver and copper bellows, to ensure the proper design for an application. Our electrodeposited (electroformed) bellows are lightweight, seamless, leak tight, flexible and repeatable. Standard sizes are available through our FC Bellows product line. Servometer’s experienced engineering and manufacturing staff can design and assemble finished components to simplify your installation and increase performance.

The Advantages of Electroformed Metal Bellows:

  • Wall thickness down to 0.0003 inch for maximum sensitivity and large deflection capability with only very minute forces as small as 4 grams.
  • Servometer offers three nickel alloy options to ensure the best performance. Choose from various nickel and nickel alloy configurations.
  • Exclusive manufacturing technology that produces e-formed bellows with unique characteristics and geometries that others have tried to replicate
    and failed.
  • Compression strokes up to 60% of their free length.
  • A volume displacement capacity equal, to or larger than, most other types of bellows when combined with a greater ID/OD ratio.
  • Normal minimum life of 100,000 cycles, and can be designed for “infinite” life.
  • Seamless and non-porous. No dust, dirt or moisture can lodge in seams and cause contamination in critical applications.
  • Leak tight to 1 x 10-9 std cc/sec (verified by mass spectrometer).
  • Miniature bellows sizes and configurations as small as 0.020 inches in diameter; smaller than any other type of bellows, yet still retain full sensitivity and flexibility.
  • Agile manufacturing process produces bellows with minimal tooling, allowing even low quantities at reasonable prices.

Is an E-Formed metal bellows the right fit for
your application?

Electrodeposited nickel bellows offer superb performance in applications such as:
hermetic sealing of switches, pneumatic actuators, bourdon tube replacement, aneroids, altimeters, mechanical seals, pumps, and more…
